Monarch Migration 🦋
One of our favorite times of the year is coming soon to the SoPac Pollinator Garden. Every year, millions of monarch butterflies travel thousands of miles from their breeding grounds in North America to their wintering sites in Mexico. According to Master Naturalist experts, we anticipate their arrival in the SoPac Pollinator Garden in about a week.

LET’S THROW SOME SHADE ON THE SOPAC TRAIL
Friends of The SoPac Trail is a not-for-profit organization of individuals and neighborhood associations committed to the support and development of the projects that improve The SoPac Trail. After seeking community feedback, FOTST is working to purchase a 14x14 shade umbrella structure for the SoPac Trail Respite Area. The board accepted a bid for the structure at a cost of $16,500.
In partnership with Lyda Hill Philanthropies, The LOOP Dallas, Dallas Parks & Recreation, Lakewood Trails and White Rock Neighborhood Associations we have been able to generate a current total of $13,500.
We are currently looking for sponsors and individual donors willing to help raise the final $2,500 to meet our goal. Can we count on you?
A Year of Appreciation - 2022
Dear Friends of The SoPac Trail,
On behalf of the Friends of The SoPac Trail steering committee, I would like to thank you for all your support of our work on the SoPac trail in the last year. As those of you who use the trail often can see, we have made many improvements to the Fisher Rd./Santa Barbara entrance to the trail. The pollinator garden and irrigation has been installed. In fact, this past October, the garden was swarmed with Monarch butterflies migrating south for the winter. Also, the group planted trees along the Santa Barbara Gateway as suggested by the City of Dallas Forester…

POLLINATOR GARDEN
We had a great few months planting and gardening at the SoPac Butterfly Garden. Thank you to all the neighbors and friends who helped plant the new native pollinator plants from the Texas Discovery Garden. These plants were purchased from a Native Plant Society of Texas “Bring Back the Monarchs grant.” Everyone has worked very hard, including some of our younger neighbors. It has been wonderful to watch our beautiful garden flourish
